According to the data from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), İstanbul, Türkiye's largest city, İstanbul hosted 86 international congresses in 2024, making it one of the world's 20 leading congress cities for the first time since 2015. This information was shared in the May issue of Focus Business Türkiye magazine, based on a statement from the İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO)
According to 2024 data, İstanbul moved up one place in both the world and Europe rankings, ranking 20th globally and 15th in Europe. Compared to the previous year, the number of major events organised in the city increased by 14.
Furthermore, İstanbul ranked 8th on the newly announced list of "Leading Cities for Medical Scientific Meetings in 2024." This reflects the city's growing importance in the international scientific and business community.
The city aims to regain the 8th in the world ranking it reached in 2015 and become one of the leading cities in congress tourism again.
