Fidan: Türkiye–Singapore relations to be enhanced in economy and security fields (Sabah 8)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, stated during his visit to Singapore that the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in a range of areas, particularly in the economy, trade, investment, security, and the defence industry.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Fidan said that during his meetings with Singapore’s senior officials, including the Prime Minister, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Minister for Interior, they focused on enhancing practical and results-orientated cooperation between the two countries.

Fidan noted that Türkiye and Singapore share complementary capabilities in digital transformation, regional connectivity, and the defence industry and that there is significant potential to expand cooperation in these areas.

The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs also stated that the meetings included exchanges of views on regional and global issues, including developments in the Asia-Pacific region and the situation in the Middle East.

Fidan emphasised that ongoing crises should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and that countries should play a more active role in addressing global challenges.

He described the visit as part of Türkiye’s broader efforts to strengthen its relations with Asian countries.
