Erdoğan: Ukraine talks in İstanbul open the door to peace (Russia)

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye stated that the Ukraine talks in İstanbul opened the door to peace.

TRT Haber reported that Erdoğan, speaking to journalists after returning from the NATO summit in The Hague, stated, "The Ukraine talks in İstanbul have opened the door to peace. Türkiye will continue to work diligently to bridge the gap between the parties.

We recognise that recent developments on the ground are constraining diplomatic efforts, but as long as hope persists – even if it is small – we are committed to pursuing peace. Besides, we believe that the prospects for peace between Ukraine and Russia are more than just a faint hope."

Erdoğan added, "Our region has already reached its quota of instability and conflict. At the moment, it is critical to establish stability and fully open the door to peace to improve the situation not only regionally but also globally. This is a shared expectation. This is especially expected of Türkiye. Both Ukraine and Russia have repeatedly demonstrated their confidence in us."
