On his return flight from Hungary, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told reporters that Türkiye has risen to a new level in the energy sector thanks to the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
President Erdoğan stated, “We have taken revolutionary steps in the field of energy. Just as in other areas, we are striving to achieve full independence in energy. We have made significant investments in this sector. While working to strengthen our role as an energy hub, we are also focused on diversifying our energy sources and reaching a level where we can meet our domestic needs. The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant has elevated Türkiye into a new league in energy.”
President Erdoğan also described the discovery in the Sakarya Gas Field as a major turning point and added, “We need to rapidly increase natural gas production and deliver it to our citizens at more affordable rates. We will achieve that. In addition, we are purchasing new vessels for seismic surveys and drilling. With these new vessels, we will carry out exploration not only in the Black Sea but also in various parts of the world. For example, the Oruç Reis vessel is currently operating off the coast of Somalia.”
