Erdoğan-Trump phone conversation on future “cooperation”

On Thursday, the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye indicated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye spoke on the phone with US President-elect Donald Trump to discuss their future "cooperation."

Erdoğan "congratulated Trump on his election victory" and "expressed his wish to develop the cooperation between Türkiye and the US in the forthcoming period."

Donald Trump received his Turkish counterpart at the White House on two separate occasions during his initial term in office, in 2017 and 2019.

On Thursday, the President of the Republic of Türkiye will attend a meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) in Budapest, consisting of 27 EU members and their neighbours, of which Hungary holds the six-month term presidency.
