The two leaders also discussed trade relations.

In the phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye said that Ankara supports efforts to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine with the participation of all parties. The news was shared by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye.

"Noting that he is closely monitoring the developments with regard to the peace process, President Erdoğan pointed to Türkiye’s sincere efforts to achieve a just peace since the outbreak of the war and said that we support approaches that aim to establish lasting peace with the participation of all sides," the statement reported.

Putin thanked Türkiye for hosting the peace talks held in İstanbul.

The call also addressed the meeting held last week in Alaska between Putin and US President Donald Trump, as well as bilateral Turkish-Russian relations, particularly cooperation in trade.
