In a phone conversation with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed willingness to mediate between Washington and Tehran to reduce regional tensions.
The statement from the Presidency said, "President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran. The leaders discussed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Iran, as well as escalating military tension in the region. During the conversation, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is willing to play a facilitating role between Iran and the US to ease tensions and resolve issues."
Also on Friday, Erdoğan will meet with the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is visiting Türkiye.
