During the meeting with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu of Romania, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye emphasised the responsibilities of the international community on the subject of ensuring "a safe future" for Palestinians drawing attention to the situation in Gaza.
Erdoğan stated, "We have exchanged views with the Prime Minister on the ongoing regional and global developments. The Israeli oppression taking place in the occupied Palestinian lands, Gaza in particular, has been the top item on the agenda. The international community’s responsibilities about stopping the Israeli atrocity and ensuring a safe future for our Palestinian brothers and sisters are evident. I believe that our ally Romania will make the necessary contributions to the international efforts on this subject."
President of Türkiye stated that they have also addressed the course of the war in Ukraine, which has entered its third year.
Turkish leader said: "Since the beginning of this war, Türkiye has made crucial contributions to securing global food security in addition to ensuring naval security in the Black Sea and will continue making contributions."
Erdoğan also shared that the fight against terrorism was included on the agenda of their talks with Prime Minister Ciolacu.
Erdoğan said: "I shared with the Prime Minister our expectations from Romania in the fight against terrorist organisations such as the PKK and FETO."
President of Türkiye continued as follows: "We see the Turkish and Turkish Tatar communities living in Romania as a bridge of friendship between us. We are pleased that our kinsmen live in harmony with Romanian community. I would like to extend my thanks to the Romanian authorities who have ensured this. I would like to take this opportunity to share the following news: We have made an arrangement allowing Romanian citizens to travel to our country with only an identity card. We are confident that this will enhance our humanitarian relations."
