Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presents a domestically produced electric vehicle to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi while on his tour across the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency's report on 5 January, President Erdoğan presented an electric car manufactured by the Turkish automaker Togg, following his summit meeting with President El-Sisi in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, the previous day. The vehicle was painted red, representing Türkiye.

El-Sisi personally drove the vehicle with Erdoğan by his side in the passenger seat to a nearby venue where the Türkiye-Egypt Business Forum was held.

At the joint press conference, Erdoğan said, "Egypt continues to be Türkiye's biggest trade partner in Africa," adding, "We aim to increase our annual bilateral trade volume from 8-9 billion dollars to 15 billion dollars."

President Erdoğan expressed his wish for the two countries to strengthen their cooperation in the sectors of trade, maritime, and security in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Furthermore, he emphasised that Palestine-related issues, such as the post-war reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, are main items on both countries' agendas.

"Our region is severely vulnerable to crises and conflicts," President El-Sisi said, adding, "Let us deepen our cooperation to expedite the attainment of a lasting political solution."

Recalling that Egypt and Türkiye, together with the US and Qatar, mediated the ceasefire in Gaza in October, President Erdoğan said, "The 'two-state solution' in line with UN resolutions and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state are of vital importance."
