Erdoğan: Peace in Ukraine is possible if both sides’ expectations are taken into account (Tass)

President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated that the settlement plan proposed by his US counterpart, Donald Trump, for the conflict in Ukraine is currently being discussed to determine whether it can serve as a basis for a peaceful resolution.

Speaking on his return from South Africa, where he attended the G20 Summit, Erdoğan said, "President Trump and I have repeatedly discussed our views on Ukraine. We believe that the path to a just peace lies through negotiations and joint efforts. There is currently a debate over whether the proposed plan can form a basis. Reaching a consensus on the plan is possible."

Turkish President Erdoğan continued: "An agreement will be achievable if the plan addresses the legitimate security expectations and demands of the parties without creating additional instabilities. If a basis acceptable to all is established, then the door to a lasting solution will open."

Erdoğan concluded his remarks by saying, "Türkiye is ready to display the same constructive stance as it adopted during the Russia-Ukraine talks held in İstanbul."
