President Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye expressed his appreciation to President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez for Madrid's decision to recognise the Palestinian state, emphasising the positive impact it will have on contributing to peace and justice in the region. According to a statement issued by the Presidential Office, the Turkish leader spoke by phone with Sanchez.
The statement on the X social media of the Presidency stated: "President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez. The call addressed Turkish-Spanish relations, regional and global issues and Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Stating that he appreciates Spain’s decision to recognise the Palestinian state, President Erdoğan noted that this move will contribute to both the establishment of peace and justice in the region and the efforts made for a two-state solution."
During the call, President Erdoğan stressed that Israel’s massacres against Palestine must be immediately stopped and Israel must be forced to abide by international law.
