Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday attended a ceremony in Adiyaman province to deliver newly built post-quake homes, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting survivors of the 2023 earthquakes.

Erdoğan said that 38,157 new houses and workplaces had been delivered in Adiyaman over the past two years.

Across the 11 provinces affected by the February 2023 quakes, the government has handed over 350,178 housing units to eligible beneficiaries. Erdoğan said the target is 453,000 units by the end of the year.

On Feb. 6, 2023, two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 struck southern Türkiye, killing more than 53,000 people in the country and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

According to Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, more than 715,000 buildings were affected, with 200,000 destroyed or too damaged to repair.
