President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye stated that the construction of the first reactor of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will be completed soon.
Speaking at the İstanbul Natural Resources Summit, the President said, "The construction of the first reactor of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, the nation's largest energy sector project, will shortly be completed," adding that the initial trial production is anticipated to commence by the end of this year.
"With the completion of the remaining reactors, the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is expected to be operating at full capacity by 2028. Consequently, it is anticipated to reduce natural gas imports by up to 7 billion cubic metres, translating into savings of 2.5 billion USD," said Erdoğan.
