Erdoğan calls on the UN to express stronger opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take a more active stance against Israel's actions in Gaza.

In a video message sent to the participants of the Summit of the Future, which will be held ahead of the week of high-level meetings, Erdoğan stated the following: "Nobody can feel safe in a world where children are killed by bombs. The international community, particularly the UN, must speak out more actively against Israel's occupation policy. Türkiye will continue to stand against oppression and stand by the oppressed and will not waver in our dedication to this stance."

Erdoğan said: "In order to build a prosperous and secure future, it is imperative that we first establish peace. Challenges such as terrorism, xenophobia, illegal immigration and climate change are fuelling geopolitical tremors. We have been witnessing the most agonising example of this for the last 11 months in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, where more than 41,000 people, including 17,000 children, have lost their lives and more than 100,000 people have been injured. Today, almost all of Gaza has been wiped off the face of the earth."
