President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye called on the "Muslim world" on Monday to act to address the plight of tens of thousands of civilians trapped in the ongoing conflict following the capture of Sudan and the city of Al Fashir.

The President said, "Anyone with a heart and who is not stone-hearted can tolerate the massacres targeting civilians in Al Fashir. We cannot remain silent."

In his address before the Economic Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), comprising 57 member states, convened in Istanbul, the President emphasised, "The greatest responsibility for swiftly ending the bloodshed in Sudan falls on the Muslim world."

Calling for the "solidarity" of Muslims in the face of the tragedy unfolding in the country, Erdoğan continued, "We must protect Sudan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence," adding that they must support the people of Sudan in these difficult times.

Erdoğan said, "As Muslims, we must resolve our own problems rather than seek help from others."
