Erdoğan calls on Russia and Azerbaijan to show restraint (Armenia)

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye said he hoped that the "distressing events in Moscow and Baku" would not irreparably harm Russia-Azerbaijan relations.

After returning from the Economic Cooperation Organisation summit in Azerbaijan, Erdoğan stated to journalists that Türkiye has strong diplomatic and strategic ties with both Azerbaijan and Russia and added: "We are closely monitoring the situation and calling for restraint."

Erdoğan stressed that Ankara supports the parties in resolving tensions.

"Our priority is to avoid sudden escalations that would undermine the hard-won stability in a region that has seen enough war and conflict," Erdoğan stated, according to Anadolu Agency. He asserted that "the Caucasus cannot afford to experience a new conflict."
