President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye stated during his meeting with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in The Hague that he thinks it would be beneficial to include non-EU allies in Europe's security and defence architecture.
The statement released by the Turkish leader's office said, "During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and France, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.
According to the statement, Erdoğan expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire reached between Israel and Iran, emphasising the need for the current situation to swiftly evolve into lasting calm.
President Erdoğan noted that including non-EU allies in Europe’s new security and defence architecture would be beneficial and emphasized the importance of approaching Türkiye-European Union relations from a long-term and strategic perspective.
