Erdoğan calls for global action against Israel’s bloodthirstiness in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for global action to put an end to Israel's "bloodthirstiness" and systematic oppression of Palestinians.

Addressing AK Party members via videoconference on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Erdoğan drew attention to the Palestinian people, who have been living under 76 years of continued occupation and subjected to systematic genocide, are once again going through an Eid in grief and longing for peace.

Erdoğan stated, "The pain of our 38 thousand brothers and sisters martyred brutally by the genocidal Israeli administration breaks our hearts as a nation and an ummah. We are currently facing challenging times that are putting our Muslim identity and humanity to the test. Showing reaction to the massacre in Gaza is not only our duty of brotherhood but also our humanitarian duty. The world must take measures against Israel's bloodthirstiness and immediately prevent the massacres that we witness anew every day."

Criticizing the Netanyahu administration, which has set the entire region on fire in order to prolong its political life, Erdoğan said, "We clearly conveyed this stance to our counterparts last week during our visit to Spain and at the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Italy. As Türkiye, we have mobilized all our resources to establish permanent peace in our region and to hold those responsible for genocide accountable."

Erdoğan noted that his country has joined other nations in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and halted foreign trade transactions with the country in order to put pressure on Israel to agree to a permanent cease-fire.

Underlining Türkiye's efforts to unify the Islamic world and increase the number of countries to recognize the Palestinian state, Erdoğan said, "We do not remain silent to the tragedies in Gaza and other corners of the Islamic world. Our efforts continue to put an end to the fraternal conflict in Sudan that has been ongoing for over a year. From Libya to Somalia, from Afghanistan to Yemen, wherever there is trouble, instability, or tragedy, we rush to the aid of the oppressed without discrimination."
