Erdoğan: “Baku’s Karabakh victory altered the geopolitical balances in Europe and Asia” (ISNA)

In his speech marking the fifth anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Karabakh War, the President of Türkiye described Baku's victory as a source of pride for Turkic-speaking countries, stating that this triumph has altered geopolitical balances in Asia and Europe.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who travelled to Baku on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan's victory in the Karabakh War, called President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan his "brother" and described him as "the architect of this great victory".

The Turkish President congratulated Aliyev on this day and stated that he sees the liberation of Karabakh as a matter of pride for Turkic-speaking countries.

Erdoğan emphasised that Azerbaijan's victory is not the end of the road but a turning point toward lasting peace in the Caucasus, saying, "Each step taken by the Azerbaijani army in Karabakh, every drop of blood shed for independence, has been inscribed in golden letters in the history of the Turkic world."

Expressing his optimism that this victory will lead to lasting peace through the constructive attitudes of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, President Erdoğan said, "We appreciate the sincere efforts of Ilham Aliyev and welcome Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's brave steps in this direction. Ankara will do whatever is necessary.”

In his remarks at the military parade, President Erdoğan stated that Azerbaijan's victory in the Karabakh War has opened the doors to a new era in the region, adding, "This war has altered the geopolitical realities of Asia and Europe. We hold no grudges, nor will we allow the recurrence of past sufferings.”
