President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye announced on Wednesday that Ankara has reached an agreement to export 48 domestically produced fighter jets to Indonesia.
The President of Türkiye stated on X, "Within the scope of the agreement signed with the friendly and brotherly country of Indonesia, 48 Kaan (fighter jets) will be produced in Türkiye and exported to Indonesia."
The Turkish President added that "Indonesia's local capabilities will also be used in the production of the Kaan," but did not provide further details regarding the terms of production.
The Kaan, produced by the Turkish Aerospace Industries, is a fifth-generation fighter jet.
Türkiye's defence sector, which also includes the renowned Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle, constitutes a significant portion of the country's export revenues.
In 2024, the country's export revenues from its defence industry increased by $1.6 billion compared to 2023, reaching $7.1 billion.
