Archaeologists in Türkiye unearth Hermes statue dating back to Roman Empire (People’s Republic of China)

Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has stated that archaeologists have unearthed a marble statue of Hermes dating back to the Roman Empire in the ancient city of Aspendos.

According to a statement from the ministry, archaeologists have uncovered a marble statue of Hermes in the remnants of a grand fountain located on the southern side of the eastern entrance to the Aspendos Theatre Street. Based on its stylistic characteristics, this statue, which is 1.65 metres tall, including its pedestal, is considered to belong to the Roman Empire era.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced on his social media account, "The silent witness of Aspendos has finally emerged; the remnants that have been buried for centuries have now been unearthed."
