As part of the disaster journalism in Türkiye project, an international event was organised, with media representatives from approximately 50 countries participating.
According to the APA report, the project's primary goal, which is funded by the European Union Erasmus Programme and managed by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, is to develop training plans and content for disaster journalism, as well as training guides for media professionals.
Ali Hamza Pehlivan, Head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye, spoke at the event about the significance of disaster journalism.
Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, on the other hand, emphasised the importance of preventing disinformation, citing the February 6 earthquake.
