Before March 8th, International Women's Day, Türkiye set a record in cut flower exports, sending a total of 75 million flowers to 34 countries. This impressive achievement was made possible thanks to the labor of Turkish women, who comprise 80% of the workforce in the floriculture sector.
İsmail Yılmaz, President of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters Association, stated, "Our women harvest and package flowers grown with love and care on 60,000 decares of land." 'These flowers bring joy and smiles to women all around the world," he added.
According to Yılmaz, the demand for Turkish flowers for March 8th has increased compared to last year, indicating that this traditional gift is becoming increasingly popular. The main importing countries were the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria, and Romania.
