Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “It has been announced that an agreement aimed at ending the conflicts between the U.S. and Iran has been reached. For the good of our region and the entire humanity, we are extremely pleased with the deal which has been reached through our contributions as well. We hope that the deal will pave the way for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in our region.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks at a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
President Erdoğan said: “It has been announced that a deal aimed at ending the conflicts between the U.S. and Iran has been reached. Thus, our region, which has been on a knife edge for months, has heaved a sigh of relief. As you know, we as Türkiye have always adopted a commonsensical and calm attitude prioritizing diplomacy. We have not fallen for provocations. We have upheld justice. We have not allowed our ties of neighborhood and brotherhood to be damaged. We have acted in cooperation with our allies and with our brothers and sisters in the Gulf. We have been one of those who raise their voices for peace, not one of those who add fuel to the war. We, together with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, have strongly supported the efforts carried out through the mediation of our brotherly country Pakistan.”
Underscoring that the plans for pitting brother against brother has been foiled, and that attempts to light fires of fitnah among Turks, Arabs, Kurds and Persians have failed, President Erdoğan stated: “Obviously, we will never forget the terrible destruction in our region, the tragedy of the innocent children massacred at school desks, or the international law being recklessly trampled upon. Nevertheless, we believe that this meaningless chapter of war, which has claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, including innocent children, is now closed. For the good of our region and the entire humanity, we are extremely pleased with the deal which has been reached through our contributions as well. We hope that the deal will pave the way for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in our region. I wholeheartedly congratulate all, the U.S. and Iranian leaderships in particular, who have contributed to the reaching of this important agreement, which has made our region and the entire world heave a sigh of relief after months.”
