The National Security Council convened on September 30, 2026, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting;
1. The Council was briefed on the activities that have been carried out with determination, resolve, and success at home and abroad against all types of threats and dangers to our national unity and solidarity, as well as our survival, including the terrorist organisations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH, along with recent international developments.
2. The Council assessed the steps taken and progress achieved towards the objectives of a “Terror-Free Türkiye” and a “Terror-Free Region” and affirmed its determination to continue efforts to safeguard the security of our country and our nation, as well as regional security and the peace and prosperity of our neighbours.
3. The Council reviewed the positive developments towards consolidating Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, extending state authority across the country, and advancing the integration process, while reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the people of Syria in their efforts to rebuild their country and strengthen their ties with the international community.
4. It was emphasised that Iraq’s peace and stability are of critical importance to the entire region, satisfaction was expressed with the Iraqi Government’s efforts to reinforce state sovereignty across the country, and the resolve to enhance strategic cooperation with Iraq was reaffirmed.
5. It was stated that the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran has evolved into a vicious cycle of recurring hostilities, triggering vulnerabilities across the region; the parties were urged to return to negotiations and bring an end to the conflict, whose global repercussions are becoming increasingly severe.
6. It was pointed out that the Israeli administration continues its attacks despite failing to fulfil its commitments and obligations to establish peace in Gaza and Lebanon, while the international community was called upon to take concrete measures against the Israeli administration, which also violates Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in its efforts to undermine regional stability.
7. The current state of affairs in the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as the regional and global implications of attacks increasingly targeting civilian infrastructure and navigational routes, were discussed; given the observed signs of uncontrolled escalation and spillover, the parties were urged to exercise restraint and pursue a ceasefire.
8. Emphasising that the recent escalation of tensions in Yemen has heightened regional security risks, particularly for neighbouring countries, it was underlined that calm, which is also vital for global stability, must be restored without delay.
Respectfully submitted to the public.
