Presidential High Advisory Board convenes under President Erdoğan’s chairmanship

Presidential High Advisory Board convened under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Çankaya Presidential Palace.

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun made a written statement following the Presidential High Advisory Board meeting. Director of Communications Altun noted the following in his statement:

"During the meeting at Çankaya Presidential Palace, the Board Members exchanged opinions on the 'new Constitution', 'anti-democratic attempts' and 'so-called Armenian genocide slander'.

Emphasizing that a new and civilian constitution was the expectation of the nation and the need of the country, Board Members expressed their views that a new Constitution bearing historical importance for Türkiye had to be prepared within a framework to enhance the country's unity, strength, stability, security, achievements and under the possible broadest consensus process.

Stating that the representatives of the anti-democratic mentality, which could not put up with our democracy, could still manifest themselves in various capacities, Board Members pointed to the importance of Türkiye's democratization steps after 2002 and emphasized that the nation showed the whole world how it stood behind its political will during the July 15 coup attempt and that the enthusiasts of the coup and tutelage would never find what they hoped for.

Commenting on the steps to be taken against the so-called "Armenian genocide" slander, Board Members also discussed the negative attitude of Greece on Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean issues and its pressure on the Turkish minority in Western Thrace.

During the meeting of the High Advisory Board, our President stated that they wanted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic with a new and civilian Constitution with the decision of our nation, not with the coup constitution and that they would work with all their might for the construction of a new Constitution in line with the needs of the country and the expectations of the nation.

Underlining that they would fight decisively against all kinds of anti-democratic attempts and discourses by protecting the national will, President Erdoğan said that Türkiye's progress could never be hindered.

Our President stated that they would continue to defend the truth against the so-called 'Armenian genocide' lie and against those who support this slander with political calculations."
