President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a message to the opening ceremony of the Baku Energy Week, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar read President Erdoğan's message.
Highlighting that regional developments have once again validated the accuracy of the energy initiatives undertaken with Azerbaijan, President Erdoğan noted that they continue to successfully implement numerous mega-projects alongside Azerbaijan, projects that were once considered a mere dream for the region.
President Erdoğan mentioned initiatives such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, and TANAP pipelines, which were launched together with Azerbaijan and completed with the contributions of another friendly country, Georgia, and emphasised that cooperation with Azerbaijan has deepened further through the "Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli" and "Shah Deniz" partnerships.
Underlining that the new partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the Shafag-Asiman project serves as fresh proof that this cooperation continues unabated, President Erdoğan continued:
"'The Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline', which entered service last year, has supported and improved energy security in the Nakhchivan region. The electricity interconnections between Türkiye and Azerbaijan continue to be of strategic importance to us. We hope that the implementation of the 'Green Electricity Transmission and Trade' project among Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria will also contribute to the energy security of our entire region."
In his message, President Erdoğan stated: "Likewise, the gas supply to Syria, which began last August as a result of a joint initiative by Türkiye and Azerbaijan, has made an undeniable contribution to that country's development and to regional security. There are significant opportunities ahead of us to expand our cooperation regarding the export of Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan and Türkiye. We are also witnessing the increasing use of the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline for transporting Kazakhstan's natural resources to Western markets."
Drawing attention to Türkiye's vision of ensuring effectiveness across all dimensions of the energy sector—including renewable and green energy—while prioritising efficiency and respect for the environment, President Erdoğan added:
"We will reinforce our determination to be one of the leading and exemplary countries in global climate action through the COP31 Summit, which we will host in Antalya from 9 to 20 November this year. With these thoughts, I hope that Baku Energy Week will yield auspicious outcomes for our countries and our region."
