President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared seven-day national mourning following the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes affecting ten provinces, the epicentres of which were in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş.
The circular published with the signature of President Erdoğan stated, “A seven-day period of national mourning has been declared in Türkiye following the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023. Our flag will be hoisted at half-mast throughout our country and in our foreign missions until sunset on Sunday, February 12, 2023.”
