The "Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Media between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and National Unity Government of Libya", signed by Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Ammar Muhammad Al-Lafi of Libya, aims to establish a Joint Media Platform between the two countries, in order to develop cooperation between two countries in the fields of media.

The "Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Media between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and National Unity Government of Libya" is one of the five agreements signed between the two countries, in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister of the National Unity Government of Libya Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Presidency's Director of Communications Altun and Libya's Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Al-Lafi.

Accordingly, the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the National Unity Government of Libya, inspired by their mutual desire to strengthen and deepen the ties of friendship and regard between their countries and peoples, considering the media as an important factor in strengthening mutual understanding, and aiming to develop cooperation between two countries in the fields of media, have reached an agreement on establishing a Joint Media Platform.

The Joint Media Platform aims to pave the way for a media partnership by strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of media and communications.

The following methods will be used for the Platform to contribute to the establishment of the infrastructure of a network of healthy media relations between the two countries:

"Know-how, accumulation of knowledge, experience, and resources sharing in the field of media, joint activities held by the official media organisations between the two countries, joint fight against disinformation in the international arena and accurately informing the international community, joint activities in the field of TV and cinema, the establishment of partnerships with different media and sector representatives, organisation of professional training and exchange programs, and establishment of communication bridges for the opinion leaders between the two countries."

A joint working committee will be formed to develop a comprehensive, goal-oriented plan for the parties to implement the media platform within three months of the memorandum of understanding's effective date.

The Committee will meet on a regular basis, in each country, at dates to be announced through diplomatic channels.
