Director of Communications Altun: “Distorting history further encourages Armenian extremists who threaten Azerbaijanis living in the US”

Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, “Distorting history further encourages Armenian extremists who threaten Azerbaijanis living in the US.”

Director of Communications Altun stated that the release of Armenian terrorist who killed Türkiye’s consul general in Los Angeles, the US, and also the decisions taken by distorting historical incidents further encouraged the extremists.

In a post he shared on his social media account regarding the issue, Altun stated that the demonstration, in which the execution of a model wearing the flag of Azerbaijan by a group of Armenian extremists in the US was greeted with cheers and Azerbaijanis were openly threatened, was a result of that encouragement.

Fahrettin Altun noted the following:

"Hampig Sassounian, the Armenian terrorist who killed Türkiye’s consul general in Los Angeles, the US, in 1982, was released from prison last month. We warned that impunity would only serve to embolden the next generation of extremists.

Distorting history further encourages Armenian extremists, who threaten violence against Azerbaijanis in the US. We are concerned about this escalation, stand with Azerbaijan against threats, and urge the US authorities to act. Our exhibition on Türkiye's diplomats martyred by Armenian terrorists will be open to visitors in Los Angeles thru May 1."
