During the reception, bilateral relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the aspects relating to the cooperation in areas of media and communications were discussed. Touching upon the historical depth of Turkish-Iranian relations, the strong cultural proximity between the nations and intense humane bonds, during his speech at the reception, the Deputy Director Özdemir emphasized that it was necessary to consolidate the friendship between the countries and sustain the sincere dialogue uninterruptedly. Özdemir also stated that it was heart-warming how the multilateral relations between the two countries and the high-level contacts were carrying on appropriately with the long-time neighbourly relations despite the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Drawing attention to the importance of displaying common will between countries, Özdemir stated the following: "The transmission of messages through the media on some issues and situations where there is a difference of opinion between our countries can damage the spirit of cooperation and solidarity that constitute the core of our relations. I believe that we have a great joint responsibility not to allow such negative incidents and to inform the public correctly."
Iranian Deputy Minister Khodadi emphasized the importance of relations with the Directorate of Communications for them and stated that they were ready to reinforce cooperation on disinformation and strengthen the relationship between media organizations. Khodadi who also drew attention to Turkey's importance, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for the region, expressed their readiness to take steps to improve the regional cooperation and said: "We're also sensitive about Turkey's sensitivities. You can be sure that we will carefully examine all the points you send us on this subject and do all the necessary work. I invite you to Iran as soon as possible to create joint projects and platforms."
