Turkic Council to meet through “Media Forum” in İstanbul

The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications will host the "Turkic Council Media Forum" in İstanbul on October 22-24 with the theme "Deep-rooted Past, Strong Future."

The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications will host the "Turkic Council Media Forum" in İstanbul on October 22-24 with the theme "Deep-rooted Past, Strong Future."

At the opening of the forum, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will address the participants via video message. President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, will also attend the forum and deliver a speech. Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Secretary-General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev will give a speech at the forum's opening ceremony.

More than 350 participants, including prominent media representatives, academics, senior officials from public institutions and organizations, social media influencers and students from the faculties of communication from Turkic Council members Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary, which has observer status, as well as Turkmenistan and the TRNC will attend the forum.

During the forum, the cooperation that can be promoted in the media, TV series and film sectors in the Turkic world, as well as social media and joint fight against disinformation, will be discussed.

The forum aims to instil a sense of unity among the youth of the Turkic world and to create awareness of a shared vision through workshop titled “The Future of the Turkic World: New Ulugh Begs, Ali-Shir Nava'is and Ahmad Yasawis of the Turkic World and the panel named “Designing Future Together”, to be held within the scope of the forum, which will emphasise the history, common language and culture of the union of the Turkic world.

In the session titled "Victory Lies in Unity: Karabakh", the importance of displaying the strong solidarity between Azerbaijan and Türkiye during the struggle that brought the victory of Karabakh with all the Turkic world countries will be emphasised, and the actions necessary to advance ties in all fields will be discussed.

A special session will also be held at the Forum in honour of the Turkic Republics, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their independence.

During the three-day programme, TRT World, TRT Avaz, technology and ethnosport stands will be open to visitors. Activities such as a visit to the TRT TV series plateau, a Bosphorus tour, a visit to Hagia Sophia and a concert will also be organised for the participants.

In his assessment on the Forum, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated that organising an international media forum had been included in the action plan at the Summit of the Turkic Council held in 2019.

Noting that it was decided to organise a Media Forum in Türkiye at the 3rd Meeting of the Ministers and High Officials in charge of Information and Media of the Turkic Council, held in Baku on April 9-11, 2021, Altun said that they were very pleased to host the Forum in Istanbul as the Presidency's Directorate of Communications.

Stating that they aimed to demonstrate their willingness and determination to build the future collectively with the members of the Turkic Council within the framework of common wisdom and vision, Altun said, "We aim to carry the relations much further in all areas, in effective cooperation and strong solidarity, under the leadership of our President and the leaders of other member states."

Emphasising that the media plays a critical role in fostering collaboration in the Turkic world, Altun pointed out the importance of undertaking activities that would strengthen the sense of unity among the youth of the Turkic world in this context.
