Speaking at the July 15 Commemoration, President Erdoğan said: “The Ghazi Parliament, which had resisted and defeated the occupiers a century ago, thwarted, this time, the pawns of imperialism in the July 15 treason.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech during the July 15 Commemoration Ceremony at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) in Ankara.
“Deputies from different political parties efused to yield to the terrorists”
“It is true that just as our nation waged a fight on streets, squares and bridges to defend their will that night, representatives of the nation, too, courageously stood firm against the coup despite the bombs raining down on them here under the roof of the Parliament. Deputies from different political parties, displaying the kind of solidarity worthy of the Ghazi Parliament’s dignity, refused to yield to the terrorists that carried out an assassination against democracy and the will of the nation. The Ghazi Parliament, which had resisted and defeated the occupiers a century ago, thwarted, this time, the pawns of imperialism in the July 15 treason,” President Erdoğan said.
“Those who acted as a pawn in the July 15 treason are using every opportunity to show animosity against our nation”
Stressing that those whose ambitions were frustrated on the night of July 15, are -even after a decade- still seeking opportunities to achieve their sinister objectives, President Erdoğan stated: “Those who acted as a pawn in the July 15 treason are using every opportunity to show animosity against our nation and country. In the countries to which they were scattered and in which they are living in luxury on ill-gotten money, they are plotting to sow further discord through the media and social media by smearing and lobbying against Türkiye. Disguising themselves in every possible way, telling all kinds of lies, and currying favor with anyone who has an issue with the Turkish nation, they are sparing no efforts to avenge the slap the nation dealt to them on July 15. They are particularly intensifying their perception operations day by day with the contents they are putting into circulation in digital platforms in a coordinated manner.”
“The July 15 was an updated imperialist project to turn türkiye into a colonial state”
Underscoring that the July 15 coup attempt was an updated imperialist project that the internal tutelary centers conducted in collusion with external centers in an effort to revive the Sèvres and turn Türkiye into a colonial state, President Erdoğan went onto say: “This was not a mere coup attempt, but also an all-out occupation attempt. This dirty plan was foiled and this imperialist project was thrown into dustbin a result of our august nation’s courageous resistance. Once again, Türkiye firmly defended its independence. By repelling the coup, Türkiye crossed a critical threshold in getting rid of the burdens that drained its energy from within.”
“The groundwork for the Syrian revolution was laid with the cleansing of FETO from our security units”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “With the multipronged measures we took in the aftermath of the July 15, we accelerated the process of FETO’s removal from the state and social life. We conducted effective cross-border operations against the formations that targeted Syria’s territorial integrity, and that directly targeted our country’s security. We dealt a heavy blow to the DAESH murderers with the Operation Euphrates Shield, and to the separatist terrorist elements with the Operation Olive Branch, Operation Peace Spring and Operation Spring Shield. Let me state it clearly that the groundwork for the Syrian revolution was laid with the thwarting of the July 15 and the cleansing of FETO from our security units. Not only in Syria, but wherever there is a need for Türkiye’s support, from Libya to Karabakh, we have gone there with all our means and capabilities. While taking these steps abroad, we healed the wounds the treason inflicted on our state and social life at home. We also implemented reforms to acknowledge the superiority of the national will, clear the path in front of democracy, and ensure stability in governance.”
