The Presidency’s Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, published a statement on his NSosyal account about the departure of Osman Gazi, Türkiye’s first floating production platform, to its operational site.
Head of Communications Duran made the following remarks in his statement:
“Osman Gazi, Türkiye’s first floating production platform, is being sent off from Filyos to its operational site in the Blue Homeland at a ceremony to be held today.
Osman Gazi will operate for 20 years at its designated location in the Black Sea. This massive facility will process natural gas extracted from the seabed and feed it into our national grid, adding new production capacity to our country’s energy infrastructure.
Once the platform becomes operational, daily natural gas production at the Sakarya Gas Field is expected to double to 20 million cubic metres, while the number of households whose natural gas needs are met by our domestic resources is targeted to increase from 4 million to 8 million.
This strategic investment, expected to contribute $3.5 billion annually to our national economy, is also vital to strengthening our energy supply security and reducing our dependence on foreign sources.
Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and in line with our vision of the Century of Türkiye, we are harnessing the resources beneath the depths of the Blue Homeland for the benefit of our nation, bringing us one step closer to our goal of full energy independence.
The energy of the Black Sea is powering Türkiye’s future.”
