Statement by Head of Communications Duran on Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement in Syria

The Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran,  made remarks regarding the Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement announced in Syria.

In a post on his NSosyal account, Head of Communications Duran noted the following:

“The Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement announced today in Syria constitutes an important stage in the process of establishing a ‘terror-free zone,’ as articulated by our President. We will closely monitor the implementation of the terms of the agreement.

Today’s developments are not coincidental; they reflect the principles and cautions our President has reiterated for years.

The path to lasting stability in Syria lies in safeguarding the rights of all ethnic and sectarian groups on the basis of equal citizenship. A Syria that preserves its territorial integrity and is free from terrorist organisations is the key to regional peace. In this regard, the steps taken and the efforts demonstrated by the Syrian administration are significant.

Türkiye is a strong actor on the ground and plays an influential role at the table. Alongside efforts to establish a terror-free zone along our borders through a resolute fight against terrorist organisations, diplomatic efforts are also supporting processes that will define the Syrian people's future. Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are indispensable for Türkiye.

Türkiye is a state that does not consider its neighbour’s security to be separate from its own, that embraces peace as a principle, and pursues stability as its objective.”
