The press truck of the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications provides services to the journalists working in the flood-hit Bozkurt district of Kastamonu.
The press truck, which was sent to the disaster area by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications following the disaster caused by the flooding of Ezine Creek on August 11, was deployed in the Bozkurt district and began providing services to journalists working in the region.
The press truck, equipped by the Directorate of Communications at the Disaster Coordination Centre in order to facilitate the professional activities of national and international media members working in the flood-affected region, provides journalists with electricity, internet, and food and beverage services. Journalists are also given access to the flood-related information flow at the truck.
Ata Gündüz Kurşun, A News reporter, working in the region, expressed that he came to the Bozkurt district to cover the events in the region after the flooding, and noted the following:
“As members of the press, we are also carrying out our duties here. Of course, we are working under difficult conditions. The state has mobilized all of its resources in this area. No one is left hungry or homeless; there has been an incredible mobilization. Public institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are sending teams from all corners of Türkiye.” Indicating that the wounds would be healed as quickly as possible, Kurşun expressed, “The Directorate of Communications also fulfils a critical duty in this regard. Thankfully, they established a press centre here as well. At the very least, a place was established where we could take short breaks between broadcasts and run our stories. Thank you for providing a location equipped with technological capabilities.”
Azerbaijani journalists also work in Bozkurt
Aziz Karimov, Getty Images photojournalist based in Azerbaijan, and Famil Mahmudbayli, REAL TV photojournalist based in Azerbaijan, arrived in Bozkurt three days ago.
The photojournalists who continue their work in the field share their images with their countries and the world through the Press Centre established in the district by the Directorate of Communications following the flood.
Photojournalist Aziz Karimov stated that they arrived in Bozkurt three days ago and began working.
Pointing out that Turkish journalists also worked in Azerbaijan during the Karabakh War, Karimov added, “We came here to share the sorrow and communicate it to the rest of the world together. Here, we collaborate with the police and other friends. We will be here today and tomorrow. After that, we will head back to Azerbaijan. We saw on the news that Türkiye was hit by wildfires and floods. We could not come in time for the wildfires, so we planned and decided to arrive once we heard of the flood. They embraced us with open arms when we told them we were from Azerbaijan.”
