Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “There can be no excuse for casting a shadow over the efforts to rid Türkiye of a quarter-century trouble. This is not solely our issue as the government and the alliance. This is an issue of the state. This is a common issue of the 86 million. Our nation also wants this issue to be resolved once and for all. We are extremely determined to resolve this issue and leave future generations a country and region free of terror. Today, I am once again calling upon everyone, regardless of their political views, to be a part of the solution.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks at a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Ahlat Presidential Complex.
President Erdoğan said: “With the grand reconciliation, which constitutes a milestone in the Turkish politics, the terror-free Türkiye process gained refreshed confidence and tremendous strength. Through their deputies, our nation demonstrated their will for solution in crystal clear manner. It is beyond all praise that our political parties representing different segments of the society have met on the same denominator regarding an issue concerning our country’s future.
This reconciliation also paves the way further steps that would strengthen our democracy, enhance the capacity of civilian politics, and liberate Türkiye from the remnants of the era of tutelage. It is a fact that none of Türkiye’s problems is irresolvable. When we act with an understanding that is centered on the country and nation instead of daily political considerations, the Turkish democracy possesses more than enough capacity and maturity to overcome any kind of deadlock. We consider this to be an exceptional gain for our Türkiye.
I, however, have to draw your attention to the following point: Even though we have peacefully overcome many critical thresholds over the past two years, we still have a path ahead of us that we should walk and manage carefully. Throughout this process, it is of great importance for everyone to be very meticulous about their remarks, to focus on shouldering the burden rather than add to the burden, and to refrain from impulsive rhetoric and actions.
Politics are done every day; yet, there can be no excuse for casting a shadow over the efforts to rid Türkiye of a quarter-century trouble. The same holds true for our media outlets and journalists, as well. No one has the right to corrupt such a vital issue just for the sake of becoming more visible or popular. That is so because this is not solely our issue as the government and the alliance. This is an issue of the state. This is a common issue of the 86 million. Our nation also wants this issue to be resolved once and for all. We are extremely determined to resolve this issue and leave future generations a country and region free of terror. Today, I am once again calling upon everyone, regardless of their political views, to be a part of the solution. Let us duly repay our debt of gratitude to our martyrs and ghazis by ridding Türkiye of terror.”
