President Erdoğan receives IKRG President Barzani

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received President Nechirvan Barzani of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG) at the Presidential Complex.

During the meeting, regional and global developments were discussed, and views were exchanged regarding relations between Türkiye and Iraq, as well as collaboration with the IKRG. 

Voicing his wishes for the IKRG parliamentary elections to be held on October 20 to be auspicious, President Erdoğan expressed his belief that the elections, in which the Iraqi Turkmen Front will also compete, will take place peacefully with an inclusive approach.

Pointing out the escalation in Israeli aggression and the potential risk it poses for the emergence of an all-out war zone in the region, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye attaches great importance to the stability and security of the entire region. President Erdoğan also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Iraqi authorities to keep the country out of the conflict.

President Erdoğan underlined that the Development Road Project will significantly contribute to the entire region's economic development, stability, and brotherhood and benefit the IKRG in every aspect as well.

President Erdoğan also expressed the necessity of steadfast collaboration in these challenging times to eradicate the terrorist threat that jeopardizes the entire region's tranquility, welfare, and internal peace.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye will always stand by the friendly and brotherly country, Iraq, and the Iraqi people, as has been the case so far.
