President Erdoğan: “Our country’s achievements have been sustained in 2021, according to recently released export and first quarter growth figures”

President Erdoğan said, "Our country's achievements have been sustained in 2021, according to recently released export and first quarter growth figures."

President Erdoğan's message was read out during a session titled "Conscious Consumption" that took place at the "12th Kazan Summit 2021", of which Anadolu Agency (AA) is a "Global Communications Partner."

In his message, President Erdoğan indicated that Türkiye attached great importance to cooperation in fields of economy, trade, defence, tourism and investment with both the Russian Federation and Islamic countries to flourish on a win-win basis, and noted the following:

"With this context in mind, on the one hand, while enhancing our relationships with our neighbours starting with our nearby geography, on the other hand, we are exerting efforts to expand opportunities for trade and investment among Islamic countries. In addition to the initiatives we've taken within the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), we've lately boosted the pace of efforts regarding halal food standards and certification."

President Erdoğan remarked that they were working to minimise the economic damage caused by restrictions by ensuring that measures to stimulate and facilitate trade are in place, particularly during the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic when introversion and protectionism were on the rise.

In his message, President Erdoğan voiced the following:

"In reality, the economic data from the pandemic period clearly and openly demonstrates Türkiye's essential participation in this process. Türkiye ended the year 2020 with a growth rate of 1.8 per cent, despite the unfavourable economic climate and the disruptions in supply and logistics chains. Our country's achievements have been sustained in 2021, according to recently released export and first quarter growth figures. We will maintain the momentum we've built in trade, investment, industry, and logistics by making the most of the windows of opportunity created by the pandemic."

Stating that Türkiye will continue to keep the issue of halal food on the agenda, which has significant economic potential, and for which the country has made great efforts for institutionalisation and standardisation, President Erdoğan added, "I believe that the Kazan Summit would make positive contributions to our country's efforts in this field."
