President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam of Lebanon at the Turkish House.
The meeting addressed Türkiye-Lebanon bilateral relations and regional issues.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is making efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in Lebanon, and highlighted the need for an international initiative to supersede the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
President Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the people of Lebanon during challenging times and providing humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the country.
President Erdoğan also invited Prime Minister Salam to the COP31 Leaders’ Summit to be held in Türkiye. President Erdoğan was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Director of the National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) İbrahim Kalın, Presidency’s Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policies Council, Ambassador Çağrı Erhan.
