President Erdoğan marks 568th anniversary of Istanbul’s Conquest

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan marked the 568th anniversary of Istanbul’s Conquest.

In a post on his Twitter account, President Erdoğan said, “I congratulate the 568th anniversary of Istanbul’s Conquest, one of the most glorious victories of our history. I commemorate with mercy and respect Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han and his mighty army, who had the honour of living up to our Prophet’s praise and added this unique city to our civilization’s legacy.”

President Erdoğan’s post also included a photo of the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque as well as a hadith of Prophet Muhammad that said: “Istanbul will surely be conquered. Great shall be the commander who conquers it, great will be the army that conquers it.”
