President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “International investors place their trust in Türkiye, believing in its potential and bright future.”
President Erdoğan addressed the party members at the AK Party Adana Extended Provincial Consultative Meeting held at Çukurova University Congress Centre.
Expressing his pleasure to be back in Adana following a nearly 2.5-year hiatus, President Erdoğan stated, “Similarly to how you do not leave us, we work day and night for you, for the peace, welfare, and well-being of our Adana. We are striving for Adana's progress, growth, and development, as well as access to the services it deserves.”
Emphasising that they invested 50 billion liras in Adana for this reason over the last 19 years, President Erdoğan voiced that they stood behind the city in every sector, from health to education, transportation to agriculture, industry to commerce, youth and sports to social aids.
President Erdoğan noted that they were pleased to see that numerous investments, which are the signs of politics based on projects and services, put into service in Adana, adding that they laid the foundation for the Ceyhan Polypropylene Production Plant, which would be one of Türkiye's most strategic industrial facilities when completed.
President Erdoğan indicated that this facility, with an investment value of $1.7 billion, would cover one-fifth of Türkiye's polypropylene needs alone, with an annual production capacity of 450 thousand tons when it becomes operational in 2024.
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows:
“This facility will not only significantly reduce our industry's dependence on foreign markets but will also make an annual contribution of $250 million toward reducing the current account deficit. We have witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements with institutions from six different countries regarding the facility shortly before our ground-breaking ceremony. These signatures put during a period when the opposition was almost completely mobilised to frighten international investors represent a significant achievement for our country. This investment is a solid indication of confidence in the Turkish economy. International investors place their trust in Türkiye, believing in its potential and bright future.”
"Investments never geared down"
Pointing out that the interest and investment appetite of global capital in Türkiye increased despite the pandemic conditions, President Erdoğan said, "At a time when investments at the global level decreased by 35 per cent, and many countries shut their engines off in the economy, investments in our country never geared down. Despite the troubled atmosphere in the international markets, we managed to increase the annual export volume to over $212 billion.”
Stating that they compensated for a significant part of last year's losses by gaining a different momentum in tourism, President Erdoğan said, "Private sector investments in our country’s industrial and production sectors continue to increase, as well as those of international investors."
Pointing out that the 26 factories they officially inaugurated in Adana Hacı Sabancı Organised Industrial Zone today begun their productions and reminding that they officially inaugurated the public enterprises of ministries, the Governor's Office and other institutions in Adana, President Erdoğan said, "With a single step, we put the services and projects with a total investment value of 4 billion liras to the use of our brothers and sisters in Adana. Then we participated in the opening programme of the taste festival of Adana, which is famous all over the world for its cuisine as well as its agriculture and industry. At the 5th International Taste of Adana Festival, we had the opportunity to experience Adana's unique and rich food culture once again."
Expressing that after the Provincial Consultative Meeting, they would proceed to Çukurova University, where they would inaugurate the new projects for the university, and then they would meet with the youth, President Erdoğan continued as follows:
"We will come together with our young people, listen to them, have a conversation and share their enthusiasm. I hope that all investments that will enhance the beauty of our Adana will be auspicious for our city and our brothers and sisters in Adana. On behalf of myself and my nation, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to and supported the construction of these projects, from workers to engineers, from private sector organisations to our official institutions.”
