“Many parts of our region are grappling with wars and crises”

Speaking at the award ceremony of the Holy Quran Fine Recitation Competition, President Erdoğan said: “Many parts of our region, starting from our immediate vicinity, and the geography close to our hearts are unfortunately grappling with wars, crises and sufferings today. Innocent children, vulnerable people, and our tens of thousands of brothers and sisters are being martyred by never-ending bombs, bullets and attacks. All of us must assume responsibility in order to put out this fire before it further grows and to prevent further casualties.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the award ceremony of the Holy Quran Fine Recitation Competition at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center in Ankara.

Voicing his pleasure over hosting the contestants and invitees at the Presidential Complex, President Erdoğan conveyed his strongest solidarity messages to those, especially the innocents in Gaza, who are marking the Ramadan and the Laylat al-Qadr under severe conditions in different parts of the world, and noted that they will continue to stand by the oppressed, the innocent, the helpless and orphans in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen and Arakan.

“All of us must assume responsibility in order to put out this fire”

Underscoring that the Islamic world is going through a very difficult course, President Erdoğan said: “Many parts of our region, starting from our immediate vicinity, and the geography close to our hearts are unfortunately grappling with wars, crises and sufferings today. Innocent children, vulnerable people, and our tens of thousands of brothers and sisters are being martyred by never-ending bombs, bullets and attacks. All of us must assume responsibility in order to put out this fire before it further grows and to prevent further casualties. I have to especially underline that we as Muslims should prevent division, competition and differences of opinion from exhausting our strength. We should leave aside the centuries-old disputes during this critical process, when we are going through days of tests, to find solutions to them at a later date.”

Stressing that no one can bear the consequences of allowing the dirty and bloody scenarios, which had been written a century ago, to be once again staged today, President Erdoğan added: “If we want to stop the bloodshed in our region, wipe the tears of mothers, children and innocent people, and build a prosperous future, where there is no pain or sorrow, we will keep our consciousness of unity alive.”
