The Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran issued a statement reacting to Israeli Minister Katz's remarks targeting President Erdoğan.
In a post on his NSosyal account, Head of Communications Duran stated:
The disrespectful and insolent remarks made by Defence Minister Israel Katz of Israel against our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan can neither cover up what is happening in Gaza nor erase the Israeli government’s genocidal record from the collective conscience of humanity or the pages of history.
We understand Katz’s special interest in Turkish television series. However, he needs a little reminder: history is not always learned from television series; it is written in the collective memory of nations and the conscience of humanity.
This is the fundamental truth that a mindset detached from reality struggles to recognise. Today, history is being written before our very eyes. Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye continues to be the voice of justice, peace and the oppressed. Meanwhile, the Israeli government’s atrocities in Gaza are the subject of grave accusations from the international community and under international law.
The truth that our President reminded the entire world of through the words of our poet is clear:
They think that If we remain silent, the matter will be over.
Yet even if we remain silent, history will not.
Even if history falls silent, the truth will not…
Even if they escape the judgement of history,
They will not escape the wrath of Allah.
