Director of Communications Altun: “Türkiye’s economy grew by 21.7 percent in the second quarter of 2021, the highest quarterly rate in the Republic’s history”

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun announced that Türkiye's economy grew at a historic rate of 21.7 percent in the second quarter of the year, the highest quarterly rate in the Republic's history.

In the post he shared on his social media account, Director of Communications Altun said, "Despite all the economic fluctuations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the whole world, Türkiye's economy grew at a historic rate of 21.7 percent in the second quarter of the year, the highest quarterly rate in the Republic's history."

Pointing out that service, industry, information and communication, social services, construction, agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors were the ones that contributed the most to the growth, Altun stated, "The data announced by TURKSTAT show that our country has a qualified growth rate based on production and exports."

Stating that compared to the second quarter of 2020, exports of goods and services increased by 59.9 percent and labour payments by 36.1 percent this year, Altun noted that exports increased by 69.7 percent and reached 55 billion dollars.

Emphasizing that all these data showed that the increase in labour payments contributed to the increase in employment, as well as the increase in production and exports, Altun said that, with the leadership and vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the successful economic management policies, particularly those of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Türkiye would continue to grow and prosper.
