Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "Our state has mobilised for our Green Homeland against forest fires that have erupted in recent days. 160 of 174 fires that broke out almost simultaneously in 38 provinces have been contained and put out. With the instructions of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our state stands with our citizens who have been affected by the fires with all of its means.”
In a post he shared on his social media account, Director of Communications Altun stated that the state mobilised for the Green Homeland against forest fires that have erupted in recent days and shared the following:
"160 of 174 fires that broke out almost simultaneously in 38 provinces have been contained and put out. With the instructions of our President, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our state stands with our citizens who have been affected by the fires with all of its means. From the first moment, all our relevant institutions and organisations have been working in coordination with great effort. 16 airplanes, 9 UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), 52 helicopters, 850 water tender and water tankers, 129 fire trucks, 150 earthmovers, 57 ambulances, 16 UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) vehicles and 5,656 personnel with the necessary equipment are actively on the field. Our struggle continues in a multi-faceted way."
"1759 citizens are now receiving shelter in fire zones"
Emphasising that 77.5 million liras of aid allowance were allocated to fire zones for emergency and basic requirements of homes, Altun said:
"For our citizens whose houses have been damaged, the construction of new houses will begin within one month. Agriculture and livestock losses will also be compensated immediately. In order to address our people' emergency shelter and humanitarian needs, 357 family tents, 40 general-purpose tents, 204 container homes, 42 WC and shower containers were delivered. So far, 19,435 hot meals, 129,175 food packages, 75,356 snacks, 66,159 beverages, and 309,60 bottles of water have been distributed in fire zones to meet their nutritional requirements."
"The entire procedure is transparent and shared with the public"
Noting that the institutions fulfil their activities in their areas of duty fully and on time, Altun stated that these fires would be extinguished and wounds would be healed together.
Emphasising that the state's relevant institutions were still fighting against the fire, Altun continued as follows:
"During this process, we have witnessed the dissemination of unverified information and news that will mislead the public's sensitivity caused by the fires. We urge our citizens to be cautious of posts that take advantage of their good intentions. As always, the best response to discriminatory and provocative rhetoric will be our unity and solidarity. We will also clear up the information pollution caused by those attempting to exploit the sensitivity created by the fires that are consuming us."
Expressing his gratitude once again to the officials and citizens who have poured their hearts and souls into putting out the fires in the green homeland, Altun stated the following, "I would also like to thank the media members who have worked with the same devotion to convey the self-sacrificing struggle of the officials and citizens to the public."
