“We do not have any problems in energy supply security”

Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “When we take a glance at the world, we see that some countries have introduced quota on fuel, that schools are closed on specific days in some countries, and that discussions are being held to limit public services in some countries, as was the case during the pandemic. Praise be to Allah, Türkiye is out of this gloomy picture. We do not have any problems in energy supply, energy supply security or energy storage.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is deeply shaking the global economy”

Stating that due to the attacks on Iran, the global economy is faced with one of the greatest shocks of the recent history, President Erdoğan said: “The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is deeply shaking not only a sector, but also the global economy in every area, from energy to agriculture, and industry to technology. For instance, Europe’s fossil fuel cost has risen by 17 billion dollars in the past 30 years. Natural gas prices have increased by 100 per cent, and oil by 60. When we take a glance at the world, we see that some countries have introduced quota on fuel, that schools are closed on specific days in some countries, and that discussions are being held to limit public services in some countries, as was the case during the pandemic. Praise be to Allah, Türkiye is out of this gloomy picture. We do not have any problems in energy supply, energy supply security or energy storage.”

“Israeli government keeps undermining every kind of initiative aimed at ending the war”

“The war, which began on February 28, unfortunately continues to claim lives despite diplomatic efforts,” President Erdoğan underscored, and went on to say: “The Israeli government keeps undermining every kind of initiative aimed at ending the war. In addition to that, Israel, by keeping the Al-Aqsa Mosque closed, introducing death penalty for Palestinian convicts, expanding its invasion in Lebanon and constantly harassing its neighbor Syria, confirms with its own actions that it is country that feeds on tension. I have to clearly state that we, as has been the case throughout history, favor not conflicts, violence or oppression, but justice, peace and stability today as well. We cannot remain indifferent to the fire, conflicts and destruction in a country right beside us, or to the targeting of civilians and civil infrastructure.”

“We are making sincere efforts to lay the groundwork for negotiations”

Stressing that Türkiye has done what is necessary in a spirit of brotherhood since the first day of the war affecting Iran and the Gulf, and has never refrained from saying what is false and what is true no matter who has done it, President Erdoğan continued as follows: “We have underscored that the fire will spread to other countries if the war is prolonged. Unfortunately, we continue to have the same concerns about our region on the 38th day of the conflicts. Both I as the President, and our ministers have sped up our diplomatic contacts in the face of increasing risks. We have been making sincere efforts to make the most of even the slightest chance to silent weapons and lay the groundwork for negotiations. We wish that this unlawful, meaningless, illegitimate and extremely costly war for the whole humanity will immediately end. We are going through critical days when raising the voice of peace in the world is more important than ever. We as Türkiye will continue to raise our voice for peace.”

“We will continue to work for peace”

“Those, who undermine peace just to extend their political lives today, should not forget that they will also need peace, justice and law tomorrow. History is full of examples of this. As we all know, most recently Hitler fell victim to his ambitions, which he failed to restrained, and made both himself and his people as well as the entire world suffer great pains. Those, who follow the footsteps of Hitler today, play the role of Hitler to not just humanity, but also to their own citizens. It is now time for the international community to stop this course of events. We, together with our own people and brothers and sisters, will inshallah continue to work for peace and want peace for all the peoples in the region,” President Erdoğan said.
