Head of Communications Altun: “Palestine will be free. Sooner or later.”

Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account on the passing of Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas.

Altun noted the following in the post he shared in English:

"Our dear brother Ismail Haniyeh, political bureau chief of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has faced death with the kind of humility that his enemies can never understand. He is one of the great heroes and a martyr for the Palestinian cause. May God bless his soul.

Israel is dragging our region into further turmoil through assassinations and covert actions intended to kill any chance of peace. The assassination against Ismail Haniyeh is the latest example of state sponsored terrorism in blatant violation of state sovereignty of another country.

The Netanyahu government has shown, time and again, that it is not committed to a ceasefire or a peace settlement. It is only interested in expanding its theft and occupation of Palestinian lands with no regard for human life whatsoever.

Having deprived millions of Gazans of their most basic human needs, Israel is targeting political leaders who seek a lasting solution. Israel’s total disregard for human life is no accident and it is only a manifestation of its genocidal policies in Palestine.

The Netanyahu government is not only instigating a wider regional war but also endangering the safety of its own citizens. Those who enable this government must be ashamed of themselves. They must recognize that they will not be taken seriously when they talk about negotiations and peaceful solutions.

No matter how many Palestinians Israel kills, the just cause of Palestine will not be erased from history. The state of Israel will go down in history as the perpetrator of extrajudicial killings, assassinations, occupation, and genocide.

I also strongly condemn the social media platform Instagram which is actively preventing people from posting messages of condolences for the passing of Hamas leader Haniyeh without citing any policy violations. This is censorship, pure and simple.

We will defend freedom of speech against these platforms that have showed many times that they are primarily in the service of global exploitative system of injustice. We will stand with our Palestinian brothers and sisters in every opportunity and in every platform.

Palestine will be free. Sooner or later. This is not an eventuality Israel can prevent."
