Head of Communications Duran speaks at “Şule: Your Story’’ series premiere

Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran made statements to members of the press at the premiere of the series ''Şule: Your Story'', featuring journalist, author and screenwriter Şule Yüksel Şenler, which will be broadcast on TRT’s international digital platform, tabii.

Stating that the production is "a highly significant series portraying what it means to be a woman in Türkiye and to wear the headscarf, with its pains and joys," Head of Communications Duran expressed his gratitude to TRT executives and the cast of the series for bringing the production to life.

Noting that the series ''Şule: Your Story'' is Türkiye’s story, Head of Communications Duran said, ''This story is also a symbol of freedom, living together, and differences coexisting side by side in Türkiye. This is our story, Türkiye’s story. Therefore, I congratulate everyone who contributed."

Describing the premiere taking place close to the anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul as a meaningful coincidence, Head of Communications Duran said, ''As is known, one of the key concepts in the series was also coincidence. Thus, the conquest of İstanbul, the later reopening of Hagia Sophia for worship, and freedom for the headscarf all came together in a very meaningful coincidence of symbols.''

Stating that the Turkish film industry has achieved highly successful productions, Head of Communications Duran continued,

"I have also noted during my travels as Deputy Minister that productions from the Turkish film and television industry garner significant interest across various parts of the world. Some focus on history, some on İstanbul, and others on the unique diversity of Türkiye. All are received with great interest. Türkiye’s story is of great importance in conveying the message of a nation located at the crossroads of continents, one that remains true to its civilisational legacy while also engaging with the world.”

"We are one, united in our differences and in the richness of these lands"

Citing President Erdoğan’s remarks, "The world is bigger than five" and "A fairer world is possible," Head of Communications Duran noted that he was essentially speaking to all humanity, and said that efforts were also being made to realise such a vision in Türkiye.

Head of Communications Duran explained that within this context, TRT’s production also embodies and serves this message, stating, "We are one, united in our differences and in the richness of these lands. It is an important production that speaks to this vision, where there is no place for suffering, and where, in embracing one another, we stand as a joyful nation with a promising future ahead. Surely, these are shaped through struggle. I consider it a major and successful production, as it reflects the importance of the headscarf struggle and illustrates how we can speak to our own people through inclusion rather than exclusion, and tells our shared story."
