Head of Communications Duran issues condemnation message regarding European Parliament report

The Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, issued a message condemning the report prepared by the European Parliament, which fails to reflect the realities of Türkiye.

In a post on his NSosyal account, Head of Communications Duran stated the following:

"We strongly reject the European Parliament’s report, which was prepared on the basis of ideological approaches and distorted information and fails to reflect the realities of Türkiye.

The unfounded and inequitable assessments regarding the Blue Homeland doctrine, the support extended to Greece’s maximalist claims, and the partisan stance adopted on the Cyprus issue clearly demonstrate the extent to which the report is biased. It is evident that this approach, which provides space for the narratives of terrorist organisations and anti-Türkiye circles, serves division rather than constructive dialogue.

We do not accept the unfounded allegations directed at the independent Turkish judiciary, nor the politically motivated assessments targeting our Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek. The Republic of Türkiye conducts its judicial processes through its own institutions in full accordance with the principles of the rule of law.

Those circles that are expected to contribute to the advancement of Türkiye–EU relations on the basis of mutual interests would be well advised to adopt a constructive approach grounded in facts rather than prejudice, and in fairness rather than political motives."
